Srinagar, Nov 09 (KNO): A NGO Ehsaas Foundation at Srinagar organized a relief camp at Bohri Kadal for the fire victims here. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir news Observer (KNO), the volunteers here made a great effort to provide both physical and emotional support and reminded these families that they are not alone in their misery. The Ehsaas Foundation established relief camps by rallying community strength by mobilizing volunteers, local donors, and mental health counselors to meet the direct needs of fire victims. Volunteers were distributing food, blankets, warm clothing, and hygiene kits, but the Foundation also sought counselors for the support of families in initiating psychological work through loss and trauma. Lead volunteer Burhan Nazir summed up what he felt was the deeper purpose of the camp: "We are here to give them more than just material benefits. In their eyes, you see a lifetime of struggle," he said. "Our message is that they are seen, they are valued, and they are not forgotten." His words echoed the Foundation's drive to treat each person with respect and dignity. In reflection, one of the volunteers, Zahoor Malik, spoke about the destruction he had witnessed. Sometimes it feels like we are trying to mend wounds that have been bleeding for years. It is not only about losing a house; instead, for these families, it is about losing everything all over again. All we could give them was a little peace. Zahoor's words actually reflected the extent of emotional tormentation that the volunteers had undergone since they were so desperately affected by the sufferings and proofs of strength that they heard from other survivors. His words captured for all to know the heartbreak of displacement and loss, emphasizing how immense the tragedy that occurred had been at Purkhoo Camp. With the relief camp, it soon turned into a moment of bonding for residents of Srinagar as the people came forward to help in whatever possible ways. The enthusiastic turnout made them realize their community stood with them, sharing their pain and adding strength. For the affected families, Bohri Kadal is a source of comfort since the act of charity here reminds them that they are not left alone in their hour of need. While recovery is long and arduous, this gives them solace. The Bohri Kadal Ehsaas Foundation relief camp is truly a shining symbol of solidarity at a time when apparently everybody is hard hit. Burhan Nazir and Zahoor Malik have worked hard to ensure that families hoping for a breakthrough this tragedy are supported at each step of the way. When the people of Kashmir stand for the Purkhoo fire victims, the fire itself vividly goes on to depict how resilient, compassionate, and united the people of the region can prove to be—(KNO)
